Big companies are also using artificial intelligence to improve the online experience of users. Famous companies like Google, Microsoft, Apple, and Meta (Facebook) are using AI in their services. In this series, Meta is adding a new AI feature to its social media platform Instagram. With the help of this feature, you can change the background of the photo of your Instagram story.

The name of the Instagram feature we are talking about is the Instagram AI-Backdrop feature. This feature works like AI platforms like DALL-E or Midjourney. With its help, you can change the background of your story photo by following some steps. At present, this feature is available only for some selected users. But, Meta is considering rolling it out to everyone in the coming weeks.

How to use the Instagram AI-backdrop feature
When this feature becomes available to everyone then it will be very easy to use. Let us tell you what you have to do for this.
- First, click a photo or select a photo from your camera roll.
- To edit the photo, tap on the story icon on the top screen.
- On the editing screen, tap the menu in the top right corner and select the “Backdrop” option.
- Instagram will analyze your photo, such as background, people, etc. This may take some time.
- Here you can choose which parts of your photo you want to keep. The ones you don’t select will be changed to the new background.
- After making your desired changes, tap the “Next” button.
- Now you have to write in English and tell what kind of background you want. Telling this will help AI create the right background for you.
- A checkered pattern will be visible in the background of the photo.
- A text box will appear at the bottom saying “Describe the backdrop you want”. Write the description of your desired background here.
- Then tap on the “Next” button.
- Two backgrounds will appear as per your instructions.
- If you don’t like these options, you can create another background based on the same description by tapping on the refresh icon.
- To change the description, tap on the description below and type a new description.
- Choose the option you like and then tap on the “Next” button.
- When you’re ready to share your story, tap “Your Story” at the bottom left.
